Enter stage left Harrods, the ritzy British department store that caters to just such a crowd, to answer their calls with the launch of the Segrave Club. Read more

Luxury cars mark record sales: What ever happened to exclusivity?

Cars! Gosh, can there really be a world without them? I hope not. While the world still whines for the lack of food, clothing and shelter (the once considered essentials of the pre-Madona world), the luxury cars segment is sure completely oblivious to its whims! Ironic as it may seem, while economies collapse in some parts of the world, the others are at its booming best (well, we always knew somebody’s loss (some developing country) is somebody’s gain (George Bush). Okay, jokes apart, the luxury Read more

First: A CLK 63 “Black Edition”, inspired by the safety cars at Formula 1 races. Secondly: A new CL 65 AMG, the most powerful and most expensive Merceded car ever built.

Hyundai Deluxe to take on Mercedes, BMW, Lexus

hyundai_2.jpg

According to news wire service Emfis, South Korea’s largest car manufacturer Hyundai Motor will conquer the luxury car market with a new model called Hyundai Genesis. The latest status symbol a Hyundai? Seems like a ridiculous attempt, especially in the European and North American markets where Mercedes, BMW and Lexus have held the top spots in terms of prestige for years now. Hyundai simply does not have the image, design or technology to appeal to the Mercedes & Lexus clientel. Plus, the estimated street price for the LuxHyundai is below $35.000. No way a status symbol on wheels can be that cheap! Anyway, a concept study of Hyundai’s new top-of-the-line model Genesis has recently been shown at a car show in the U.S. and will be available later this year.
